Choose an existing artwork, photograph or handmade element and use
Magic Layers to separate it into editable pieces.

Create a new digital collage using the techniques we explored in class.

Experiment with:

• rearranging, repeating and overlapping elements

• changing scale and composition

• combining unrelated images

• colour adjustments and image effects

• adding texture, type or simple shapes

• pushing beyond the choices you would usually make

Try creating three different compositions using the same starting elements. Work quickly and allow each version to move in a different direction.

Choose the composition with the most energy and develop it further.

Pay attention to the unexpected relationships that emerge. The strongest direction may begin with something strange, imperfect or completely accidental.
